Too fix and reverse the look of discoloration of their teeth many of these people are talking to their dentist about teeth bleaching.
Tooth bleaching exists in many forms and can create various results with different people. Many people are going to the grocery store and purchasing over the counter teeth bleaching systems in the form of bleaching strips. These bleaching strips are place directly on the front of the teeth at a time that is convenient for the wearer and is worn for up to 30 minutes at a time and then repeated for several days. Bleaching strips have been known to whiten teeth up to 4 or 5 shades per treatment cycle.
Many times people will get bleaching trays from their dentist. These teeth bleaching trays are custom fit to the wearer's teeth. They use a peroxide gel that is placed in the mouth piece and then is placed in the wearer's mouth for a period of time. Sometimes the tray is worn for an hour or sometimes it is worn throughout the night depending on the results the wearer hope to achieve and depending on the concentration of peroxide gel.
Many dentists today are performing in office teeth bleaching to attain maximum results on a patient. This type of tooth bleaching system uses a peroxide gel concentration that is usually between 15%-50% peroxide. The way it works is, the gel is placed on the patient's teeth and then the teeth are exposed to a direct blue wave light. The blue wave light "activates" the gel and breaks down the stains on the teeth. This process usually takes about 15 minutes and is usually repeated 3 times on each visit for best results. It is not uncommon for a patient to see their teeth whiten up to 14 shades with this type of in office teeth bleaching system.
In some cases, people that have had teeth bleaching done may experience some tooth sensitivity directly after the procedure or later on. This sensitivity usually goes away after a period of time. When properly cared for the results of teeth bleaching can last for many years to come.
